Ride for Gene - May 2009

Ride for Gene - May 2009

On the 18th May 2009 a group of Gene's colleagues and friends cycled, in his memory, across the UK, starting out at Suffolk Police HQ and riding 90 miles a day for 4 days, finally arriving at the North Somerset Coast, at Minehead.

Gene rode in a 65 mile London to Southend charity ride in 2001, he up'd the mileage and completed the Norwich 100 a couple of years later. He continued his fund raising by way of organising a police team to enter a dragon boat day, 3 years in a row, with his team winning the first year they entered.

The St Elizabeth Hospice, Ipswich, looked after Gene and his family during his illness. Gene's wife, Michelle, has said she can't thank the hospice enough for what they did.

The ride was a great way for his friends to say 'thank you', by way of raising money for the hospice. Please follow the link below to our 'just giving' site and donate as much as you possibly can...Thank you :-)

Runners and riders were;

Robbie Beecroft, Jeff Cribb, Andy Elden, John Frith, Mike Geeson, Laura Hicks, Ben Hollands, Paul Jackson, Tim James, Les King, Dave Logan, Ollie Loomes, Steve Richardson, Darren Sargent, Neil Smith, Tony Spry, Nick Stonehouse, Kevin Ward, Paul Ward, Dean Webb and Maggie Williams.

Support crew/drivers;

Rick Asker.
